Quack is a giant snow cone

“Snow Cone”

Quack improves each day since his amputation surgery. Today 5 days after surgery he started showing interest in his toys. He even played with brother dog Bear a bit. He’s getting around better every day too. The giant cone that prevents him from going after his incision is a bit of a management issue but he is coping. We are coming off the third “Nor’easter” in 10 days so when he goes out he tends to scoop up snow in his enormous cone. We are waiting to hear from histology to confirm the mass was osteosarcoma and that there was no lymph node involvement and then he will be able to continue in the clinical trial. I feel like I’ll be able to breathe again when we know one way or the other.

  1. Best snow cone evvvvver!!!

You must be so tired of this late Wi ter weather. I bet Quack thinks the snow is great though!

I was lucky in that Happy Hannah never messed with her incision and didn’t need the cone. As long as you are watching Quack closely, you can leave it off when out in the snow, or resting, etc..as long as you are watching that sweet Quack!

Really glad he’s doing so well, especially this early on. The fact that he wanted tonplay a bit with his tous and with Bear…SPECTACULAR NEWS!! 🙂

    Big hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

    1. He does like snow! Not as much as his Newfoundland brother though. I’m nervous about taking it off, in case I can’t get it back on as well.

  2. Haha we’ve never heard the cone of shame referred to as a snow cone, that’s adorable! However much you feel sorry for him while he’s wearing it, however, it’s soooo important to leave it on at all times. We’ve seen many dogs here rip their incision to shreds almost right in front of their humans’ eyes, even when they thought they were watching closely. It won’t be long until that thing is history, so hang in there.

Sorry for the weather hassles but we’re glad he’s doing so well otherwise. What a champ.

Remember, no matter what the path report says, Quack doesn’t know any different. To him, all that matter is he is feeling good again! Follow his lead and you can’t go wrong.
