Today six days after amputation surgery, Quack is really becoming pretty competent on three legs. He was very interested in being outside (and yup we are getting more snow). He still tires quickly though. He is still on pain meds to keep him comfortable if he still has pain. He seems way more comfortable with post operative pain compared to the pain in his leg from the large mass in his femur. After being out this morning for a short while he is basically snoozing.
WOW! Just six days post amp and this great vig fella’ is spi g so well! Quite ahead of the curve Mr Quack!! 🙂
Yes, it is quite exhausting trying to navigate on three legs, especially for bigger pups….and especially in snow!! Glad he knows to come in and rest. Smart Quack!

thanks and hello from Quack to Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie
So glad he is feeling good, I would think only 6 days into this the pain meds are still helping. Huck was on pain meds for a little over 2 weeks. They don’t like to show pain so it usually comes out differently when they are uncomfortable.
So glad he is maneuvering so quickly on three, that is awesome for a big dog!
Jackie and Huckleberry
thanks for this info about pain!
Sounds like a pretty normal recovery. Perhaps even an excellent one if he’s showing interest in going out in the snow and doing things. WOW!
That tiredness will subside in time. Just go slow and you’ll see that sparkle return.
WOW so encouraging We are having our surgery tomorrow and these stories brighten me right up THANK YOU
Hi Doug01 hope your surgery went really well!
Oh I wanted to let you know that when you share videos, it helps if you put them on YouTube first, then paste the video URL into your blog post.
That’s because free Tripawds blogs don’t have a whole lot of storage space for more than a few movies, even short ones. If you’d like to post movies directly to your blog, you can skip the YouTube step by signing up as a Tripawds Supporter, which will give you tons more storage space for videos. Please see:

Thanks for the tip I joined as a supporter so hopefully that will help with videos
